Symptoms to watch for
- Ear pain or a feeling of fullness
- Drainage from the ear
- Trouble hearing
- Fever, especially in children
- Tugging at the ear in young children
Come to the ER immediately if
- Severe ear pain with high fever
- Swelling or redness behind the ear
- Sudden hearing loss
- Dizziness or facial weakness
How we treat ear pain & infections
Otoscopic examination, treatment of both middle and outer ear infections, pain relief, antibiotics or ear drops as needed, and removal of foreign objects or impacted wax.
