Chest pain is never something to wait out at home. Some causes are minor; others are life-threatening and time-sensitive. Our team treats every chest pain complaint as a priority — EKG within minutes of arrival, cardiac blood markers drawn on site, and imaging if your physician needs it.
Symptoms to watch for
- Pressure, squeezing or tightness in the chest
- Pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck or back
- Shortness of breath
- Cold sweats, nausea or lightheadedness
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Come to the ER immediately if
- Any chest pain lasting more than a few minutes
- Chest discomfort with sweating, nausea or breathlessness
- Pain that returns after resting
- Known heart history with new symptoms
How we treat chest pain
You are placed in a treatment room immediately for continuous cardiac monitoring, EKG, troponin and full cardiac laboratory work, chest imaging, and rapid stabilization. If a higher level of cardiac intervention is needed, we coordinate transfer without delay.
