How to Handle Chest Pain: When Every Minute Counts

Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people visit the emergency room — and for good reason. Some causes are minor, but others can be life-threatening and time-sensitive.

Warning signs that require immediate ER evaluation include pressure, squeezing, or tightness in the chest; pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck, or back; shortness of breath; cold sweats; nausea; lightheadedness; or a rapid or irregular heartbeat.

At ER of Frisco, chest pain patients are placed in a treatment room immediately. We perform an EKG within minutes of arrival, draw cardiac blood markers on site, and use CT or X-ray imaging when needed.

Our physicians are emergency-trained and experienced in recognizing the early signs of heart attack, pulmonary embolism, aortic dissection, and other serious conditions. If a higher level of cardiac care is needed, we coordinate transfer without delay.

Do not wait to see if chest pain passes. If you are experiencing chest pain, call 911 or come directly to ER of Frisco at 12600 Rolater Road, Frisco, TX 75035. We are open 24/7.
